Getting to know us

It’s with great pleasure that I introduce myself. I am Dr. Ayesha Saeed, currently working as Assistant Professor Pediatric Orthopedics and Head of Department at The Children’s Hospital and The Institute of Child health, Faisalabad, Pakistan. I am a graduate of Fatima Jinnal Medical College, Lahore. I trained in Orthopedics and Traumatology in Mayo Hospital Lahore, King Edward Medical University with renowned teacher, philanthropist and orthopedic surgeon Prof Syed Muhammad Awais (SI). In 2015 I became a fellow of College of Physcians and Surgeons of Pakistan (CPSP) with distinction in FCPS Orthopedic Surgery (Gold Medalist).

The utmost challenges that the pediatric patients pose inspired me to pursue “Pediatric Orthopedics”.  I was lucky to work at the country’s largest Children’s Hospital University in Lahore. Here, I remained part of an enthusiastic experienced team of surgeons as we treated trauma, deformity, neuromuscular, metabolic and oncological orthopedic conditions. In December 2019, where I served as Assistant Professor and head of  the Pediatric Orthopedic unit at Children’s Hospital Faislabad until December 2023.

I am the only fellowship trained Pediatric Orthopedic Surgeon in Pakistan from “The Hospital for Sick Children (SICKKIDS)” Toronto Canada where I advanced my training on various musculoskeletal problems of children.

My areas of special interest in Pediatric Orthopedics include hip preservation surgeries especially for neglected DDH, deformity correction including idiopathic and complex clubfeet, radial club hand, Sprengel shoulder, limb reconstruction for bone tumors, complex trauma, infections and neuromuscular disorders like Cerebral Palsy, myleomeningocoele.

I have the honor to be one of the few “Female Orthopedic Surgeons” of our country. In our culture female patients feel comfortable getting treatment from a female doctor.  I routinely treat women for their musculoskeletal issues like osteoporosis, degenerative/inflammatory joint disease involving knee, shoulder, spine etc. I offer pain management services like intraarticular injections as well.

Likewise, ‘clinical research’ and ‘academic medical teaching’ is my passion as well. I did AO Trauma fellowship at BG Klinikum Bergmonstrost Hospital, Halle, Germany and have remained a fellow of AOITC (AO’s Innovation and Translation Center) in Switzerland. I actively participate as their national and regional faculty at AOPEER (AO Program for Education & Excellence in Research) courses and AO Trauma Basic and advance principle of fracture fixation courses. I have served as a member of AOTMENA (AO Trauma Middle East & North Africa) Research Board and managing secretary of JPOA (Journal of Pakistan Orthopedic Association) I am also currently part of executive board of Pediatric Orthopedic Society of Pakistan (POSP) and have been involved in conducting many workshops, seminars, and conferences with this platform.

Pakistan is a country of 220 million people, with 43% of its population under the age of 15 years. That makes it 5th most populous and 2nd youngest country in the world. We need dedicated Pediatric Orthopedic Surgeons to look after complex needs of children’s bone and joint disorders. The aim of my practice is to provide a holistic and state of art Pediatric Orthopedic care which is centered at patient satisfaction and excellent outcomes.
